STUDENTS at Tenbury High School had a chance to say goodbye in style.

There were plenty of posh frocks and suits in evidence for the ‘leaver’s ball’ held at The Birche at Shelsey Beauchamp.

A ball is held every year to mark the farewell of students as they move on to the next stage of their lives.

In the past the ball has been held at Cadmore Lodge but this year a new venue was found and head teacher Andrew Price said that the traditional farewell event was a great success.

Many students arrived in posh cars and carriages but others chose more unusual ways of getting to the ball including some girls who arrived on a sofa.

But the stars of the show were undoubtedly the girls and boys who took the opportunity to dress up and look the part.

Unlike some schools Tenbury describes the party in the traditional English way as a ‘ball’ rather than the American ‘prom’ as it is termed by some other schools.

But whatever the name it is a chance for the students to have a final get together and celebrate with the exams over and a new chapter in their lives about to start.

Students at the school finished the term with a number of day trips including visits to The Royal Welsh Show and The West Midlands Safari Park, as well as activities such as paintballing and ice skating.
