A LUDLOW shopkeeper has launched an appeal to fill 200 shoe boxes full of goodies for under privileged children.

Margaret Edwards and her sister Jean Parker have the empty shoe boxes stacked up in E J Poyner Ladies and Childrenswear clothes shop in Broad Street ready to be filled by the kind hearted people of south Shropshire for Operation Christmas Child.

Pens, paper, toiletries, hats, gloves and a toy are just some of the items needed to go in the boxes which will go to youngsters in Belarus.

It is the ninth year Margaret and Jean have supported the charity, sending around 9,000 boxes in that time.

So far they have collected 101 filled boxes and anyone wishing to help have until November 20 to collect and fill their box.

"It is brilliant that we have had so much help in the past and we have been overwhelmed by the kindness people show every year," said Margaret.

Margaret and Jean would like to thank Elts, Oska and Old Cobblers shoe shops for supplying the boxes which the ladies have covered in Christmas wrapping paper.
