LUDLOW Green Festival has got bigger.

The event that has become an end-of-summer fixture in the life of Ludlow has become a two-day event.

This year Ludlow Green Festival is expanding the chance for people to have green fun over two days on Sunday and Monday (August 30 and 31).

A new Walks Programme on Bank Holiday Monday offers a variety of walks.

Festival visitors can choose a gentle stroll in and around the town or join landscape detective Keith Pybus for a Foraging Walk with tastings and recipes included or they could venture further afield and join a trip on the Castle Connect bus to Clun, where they can learn more about a green way of life topped off with tea and cakes at Tea On The Way.

But the fun doesn’t stop there – it’s all rounded off with A Party at the Brewery with lively music in a unique blend of styles provided by Little Rumba and Take Four.

Ludlow Green Festival is a longstanding popular event in the town’s calendar attracting both locals and visitors.

Its reputation will be maintained this year with an inspiring array of stalls at Sunday (31 August)’s Green Fair.

Products and information will all go to show how easy it is to take even a small green step.

Activities for children add to the air of fun. They can have a go at making a bee windsock, create their own musical instrument from rubbish or cook up a bike-powered breakfast! Adults can see a cob oven being built and taste the results or visit the model Eco House on Castle Square.

Themed as 21 Shades of Green, Ludlow Green Festival is a Ludlow 21 Event, giving public face to the organisation that aims to help Ludlow steer towards a more sustainable future.

It is run by volunteers and has seen an increase in sponsorship by local businesses, recognising the strength of Ludlow’s green credentials and the value of supporting this popular event.

This year Ludlow Green Festival has been supported by grants from Ludlow Town Council and Wesleys and sponsorship from Acaster LLP, Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors, Treasure & Son, Anne Hepworth, FJ Bodenhams, Ludlow Brewing Company, Whittingham Riddell, mfg Solicitors, The Charlton Arms and The Feathers Hotel who are keen to help develop and be associated with the festival’s promotion of environmental issues.

The Green Fair taking place on Sunday, 10am – 4pm, Walks Programme Monday 10am – 5pm and the Party at the Brewery is on Monday from 6pm to 11pm.
