THERE will be a three-way contest when electors go to the polls next Thursday (December 3) to decide who will represent people in Teme Valley on Malvern Hills District Council.

Caroline Palethorpe will be defending the seat for the Conservatives against the challenge of Daniel Walton from Labour and Andrew Dolan from UKIP.

The vacancy follows the death of long-serving Councillor Gill Farmer.

Gill Farmer became unwell while driving near Tenbury High School on Thursday, October 1.

She was treated at the scene and taken to hospital in Worcester where she died later that evening.

Councillor Gill Farmer, who represented Teme Valley Ward on Malvern Hills District Council, had been a councillor for more than 20 years and was chairman of the council in 2004.

Away from the council chamber, she enjoyed painting.

She was married to former district councillor Reg Farmer.

The polls will be open from 7am until 10pm.
