THERE was a big party at Tenbury Primary School.

It was to mark the transformation of the 150 year old school into an academy.

Former teachers and staff joined that that are there today to mark the move.

The change was also officially marked by the cutting of a ribbon by the Bishop of Hereford.

A special assembly led by the children looked back at the 150 year history of Tenbury Primary School part of which includes the original Victorian buildings.

Extracts from log books for the school between 1877 and 1982 were read by pupils Will Duggan, Scarlett Perry, Tilly Sheppard, Jess Aston, Cerys Redding and Rory McCrann.

There were also contributions from two former pupils who are now students at Tenbury High School, Kitty Houchin and Max Arwand as well as former Governor the Reverend Claire Lording.

The school has become part of the Bishop Anthony Educational Trust and Bishop Richard from Hereford cut the ribbon marking the change.

Afterwards all of the 200 pupils were given coloured balloons to release from the playground.
