PEOPLE came together to help support and young cancer victim from Cleobury Mortimer and his family.

There were five-kilometre and 10-kilometre runs as well as many other activities at Farlow and Oreton Village Hall on Saturday from 10am.

Other activities that were part of the fun day included a tug-of-war competition.

It was all to support a brave youngster from Cleobury Mortimer, who is now under the care of specialists at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children.

Jack Edwards, aged seven, touched the hearts of people throughout Ludlow and south Shropshire when he was diagnosed with leukaemia four years ago.

He is currently under the care of top London specialists who are considering a trial drug treatment.

Aged just three when he was diagnosed with the disease, the youngster has fought hard to beat his illness, enduring intensive chemotherapy.

In early December last year, tests showed that Jack had suffered a relapse and is now awaiting a bone marrow transplant.

A donor was found after hundreds turned out at Lacon Childe School in January to be tested.

Despite his illness, Jack is renowned for always having a smile on his face.

Fundraising efforts have given him and his loved ones a much-needed morale boost.
