SHEEP can play a part in saving the leisure centre in Bishop's Castle.

The latest idea of raise money for SpArC is a sheep sale in the town.

At this year’s annual sale of breeding sheep and store lambs, some will be sold in aid of the Save the SpArC campaign.

Organised by Val Corfield and Kevin Bavastock, local farmers from Myndtown and Hardwicke, the special sale is an unusual way to raise money for the threatened SpArC leisure centre.

“We use the leisure centre a lot and wanted to do something to help raise money to keep it open, we had the idea of a sheep sale and Halls Auctioneers have offered to help us by selling some sheep, generously donated by farmers, in aid of SpArC at their October sale,” said Val.

Livestock farmers are asked to donate one, or as many ewes or lambs as they can, which will then be sold by Halls in aid of the campaign.

“We are really pleased to help the campaign in this way; sales will be commission free so that every penny goes to Save the SpArC,” added David Bryan from Halls.

Donated animals should be brought to the Love Lane sales field from 7am on Saturday, October 1 and will be held in a pen for selling at 10am for store lambs and 10.30am for ewes.
