AN attempt is being made to find a solution to the lack of Post Office services in Clee.

Ludlow MP Philip Dunne met the owners of Clee Hill Stores to discuss alternative options to a mobile service, a proposal currently being consulted on by the Post Office.

At local campaigner James Wheeler's initiative, the MP met local shop owner Rajinder Kaur, to suggest submitting a proposal to take on Post Office in the current consultation.

The current Post Office branch, in Clee Hill Stores, has been run by an independent temporary agent since 2011.

“I have my concerns that the mobile service currently being proposed would not be enough for a village of Clee Hill’s size, but continuing a permanent branch is dependent on finding a long term agent for the Post Office,” said Philip Dunne.

“After speaking with local campaigner James Wheeler about this issue, I met Clee Hill Stores to suggest they put forward their own proposal to take over the running of the Post Office, which would ensure a long-term future for the branch.”

“The Clee Hill Post Office currently serves around 400 people per week, so a physical branch would be preferable to a mobile service. This is dependent on credible proposals being put forward, so I very much hope the shop will do so.”
