A TENBURY mature student has been awarded a scholarship as a result of her academic achievements.

Fine art and illustration student Nadine Yeomans, 46, has been awarded a £1,000 scholarship by the University of Worcester in recognition of her dedication and commitment during the last year.

“I’m thrilled,” she said.

“It was very unexpected. Breaking away from work and following my passion for art has been the most rewarding and bravest move of my life. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”

“I was working for Tenbury Primary School as a teaching assistant, and I was inspired by certain teachers and children I worked with.”

“I felt that I had more to give than the role I was employed to do, I felt that not having a degree certainly held me back from reaching my true potential.”

“I could see myself as a university lecturer, among many other artistic roles like a book illustrator, artist or printmaker and I’m planning on studying an MA after this degree.”
