ONE of Ludlow's garages has been given permission to expand.

The Morris Autos site, based in Lower Galdeford, will benefit from an extension with the centre expanding.

It currently offers MOTs as well as vehicle servicing and repairs, but the extension will accommodate the growth of the business, said Stefan John Morris of the garage.

The planning statement, which was approved by Shropshire Council, says that "two workshop stations will enable servicing and repair to vehicles in conjunction with the MOT facility".

The decision by Shropshire Council, issued on January 29, reads: "Shropshire Council hereby grant full planning permission.

"The expansion of the building to support a business and use is acceptable in principle. The addition is acceptable in scale, where it is not an overly dominant addition. The extension will not have a significant landscape impact, with its harm to neighbour amenity not being significantly greater than existing. A suitable operational hours condition has been applied to mitigate amenity impact."

One of the conditions limits the opening hours of the garage to between 8am and 6pm on weekdays, 8am and 3pm on Saturdays, and no permitted hours on Sundays, bank or public holidays.
