CARS are no longer allowed to park at a closed Tenbury pub.
A note was placed in the windscreen of vehicles last week by the owners of the Royal Oak in Market Street.
It states: "Polite notice: We are sorry to inform you that the Royal Oak car park will close to the public from Wednesday 31 January 2024 at 5pm.
"We have tried to keep the car park open for free public use for as long as possible but Malvern Hills District Council have ordered the car park to be entirely fenced off meaning it is no longer available for public use.
"This is due to persistent fly-tipping on the site by members of the public. Could all cars be removed by 5pm on 31/1/24."
Despite the warning, some cars were seen parked on the wrong side of the fence on Saturday (February 3).
The Royal Oak was a prominent pub in Tenbury, but was put on the market for £700,000 two years ago.
A spokesperson for Malvern Hills District Council said: "We have received a number of reports about fly-tipping and the general state of the car park on Market Street in Tenbury.
"As a result, we issued a Community Protection Warning asking that the building and land is secured to prevent further unauthorised waste disposal at this site.
"Fly-tipping is a blight on our district, it costs money to clear up and can be dangerous.
"By securing the site, we hope this will discourage people from dumping waste illegally. Please report fly-tipping to our website: www.malvernhills.gov.uk/report-it."
