A FLOOD warning has been issued for the river Teme near Tenbury after and during heavy rainfall.

There is a flood warning for the river Teme at Stanford Bridge, which affects the properties and roads in that area.

The flood warning says: "River levels are rising at the Stanford Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected. We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Stanford Bridge. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until tomorrow. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and avoid contact with flood water."

There is also a yellow rain warning in place for parts of the Midlands, issued by the Met Office, but this does not cover Tenbury directly.

The Met Office urges people to check if they are at risk, and to consider a flood plan and a flood kit if they are.
