A NEW Post Office service is coming to a Tenbury shop.

A Post Office spokesperson said a "new type of Post Office branch" will be opening in the town from 1pm March 20.

The new service, which will be based at the Co-operative in Tenbury's Bromyard Road, will be a drop and collect service, offering Post Office services from a handheld device, the spokesperson said.

This will offer "convenient access for customers to bill payments and prepaid parcel collections and returns", the spokesperson said, but will not provide more complex services such as personal and business banking.

The service will be available from 7am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday, the spokesperson said.

A wider range of Post Office services are available from the nearby branch at Tenbury Wells Post Office in Teme Street.

The Post Office said the new "lighter" and "flexible" branch format has been developed "to take advantage of the opportunities a vibrant, and increasingly competitive, parcels market offers".

"Consumer shopping habits have been changing and the popularity of online shopping has transformed the parcels market at pace," the spokesperson said.

"Drop & Collect will help us address gaps in service coverage, ensuring that we have the best network for parcels across all parts of the UK."
