SIXTH form students will be heading to Tenbury's St Michael's Church to perform a piece by one of the world's great composers.
Musica Academica, a choir of students from Hereford Sixth Form College directed by the college's head of music Tim Pratt, will be performing Johannes Brahms' German Requiem at 4pm on April 20.
The piece, which will be the only one performed on the day, was named A German Requiem by Brahms as he does not use the words of the Catholic liturgy, but rather a collection of texts from the Lutheran bible.
There are seven movements in the work, and the fourth movement, 'How lovely are thy dwellings fair' is perhaps the best known.
Sung at this performance in English, the work lasts a little over an hour and there are solo parts for soprano and bass, and these will be taken by singers from within the choir.
Instead of being accompanied by an orchestra, the choir at this performance will be accompanied by the 1873 ‘Father’ Willis organ, and the organist, Roger Judd, will be playing an arrangement of the orchestral part by Tim Pratt.
