A LUDLOW Post Office will not be closing, after fears were raised that the town would lose the busy branch.

Ludlow Town Council, in a statement on their website last month, said that the loss of the Tower Hill One Stop post office would be “a major blow to the local economy” and that the impact on locals would be “devastating”.

And Phillip Dunne, MP for Ludlow, said he was “deeply concerned” by One Stop owner Tesco’s proposals to close the concession.

But One Stop has now said that the post office inside the One Stop shop will not be closing.

"Working together with the Post Office, the format will change, bringing the Post Office counter closer to the till and making better use of retail space to enhance store operations," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said banking, billing, postal and travel services will remain, and that the opening hours of services will be extended to 8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday.
