TWO teens have been ordered to pay compensation after an assault in a Shropshire village.

Anais Childe, 19, entered a guilty plea to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm when she appeared before magistrates in Telford in February.

Another defendant, who is under the age of 18, also pleaded guilty to the offence, and the two were convicted of it jointly.

The second defendant, who is from south Shropshire, cannot be named for legal reasons.

The court heard from Crown Prosecution Service prosecutor Sara Beddow that 19-year-old Childe and the other defendant had assaulted another person, causing them actual bodily harm, in an incident in Little Wenlock on October 8, 2022.

Childe, of Miners Meadow, Broseley, was ordered to pay £250 in compensation to the victim, with magistrates saying they had taken her guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty. She was also handed a community order to undertake up to five days of unpaid work and handed a restraining order to stop her contacting the victim.

No court costs or victim surcharge were ordered to be paid by Childe to allow compensation to take priority, the magistrates said on sentencing.

The other defendant was also handed a restraining order, and referred to the Shropshire youth offender panel for an eight-month contract.
