Tenbury Town 7 Bartestree Reserves 0

CHRIS Patton believes Sinkum will have a tough job on their hands this Saturday as Tenbury Town open their Herefordshire Football League Division Two campaign.

Town have been in cup action during the past few weeks, and like Sinkum, have not played a league game.

The two teams lock horns at Palmers Meadow this Saturday, and after seeing Town thrash Bartestree Reserves 7-0 in the first round of the HFA Burghill Cup, star player Patton is in confident mood.

“Sinkum are a tough side and they have proved difficult to beat in the past,” said Patton.

“But our team are on a high having scored 16 goals in two games and are playing some excellent football.

“I believe Sinkum will find us hard to beat this weekend.”

Patton was Town’s man-of-the-match for Bob Sumner’s team against Bartestree Reserves and scored tow of the team’s goals.

Town opened the scoring through Alex Bright afte Tom Pitt’s effort was parried.

Pitt then got on the score-sheet following a cross from Patton before Ashley Botwood converted a penalty after Alex Bright was fouled.

Patton grabbed the fourth after he headed in a Jack Farrar corner and Pitt grabbed his second goal of the game before half-time after being set up by Botwood.

Ben Spires and James Powell then made their debuts in the second half.

Powell made it 6-0 and then Spires set up Patton for an easy seventh.

Patton said that the whole team felt confident in their play.

“It made my game improve because of the service given by my team-mates,” said Patton.

“It could not have been done without the strong players around me.”

Tenbury United’s scheduled game against Shobdon in Herefordshire League Premier Division was cancelled due to Shobdon pulling out of the league.

United are in cup action this Saturday when they travel to Lads Club Reserves in the first round of the HFA Charity Bowl before facing facing Pegasus Reserves the following week.
