LUDLOW Hockey Club secured a 2-2 home draw against Aldridge and Walsall in Warwick Printing West Midlands Premier League.

Martin Watts' team quickly established a two-goal lead with a brilliantly worked goal by Joe Haywood and a Stuart Richards deflection from a Graham Hutchinson shot.

Chances to score a third and put the game to bed were missed though and the away side fought their way back into the game in the second half to level the match.

"Ludlow's skilful young forwards are finding it difficult to shake off the over physical attentions of determined defenders and they then allow their frustrations to show," said coach Watts.

"However, the experience of playing in the Premier League will gradually help the team secure victories which they richly deserve."

Ludlow 2nd went down 3-1 to Old Wulfrunians in a friendly.

Tyler Davis performed well at half-back, Josh Rowson was a welcome return in defence and young defenders Jack Wood and Ben Crump gained valuable experience.

But due to missing several key players, Ludlow 2nd found it tough.

Old Wulfrunians stormed into a 2-0 lead, before Jack Pritchard reduced the deficit.

But, the home side grabbed another goal to secure the win.

A young Ludlow 3rd were hammered 10-0 by Whitchurch.

However, Ludlow did not have a goalkeeper and captain Hector Robertson had to play as a kicking back.

"It should be noted that eight of the players were under the age of 16," said Watts.

"However, there is bags of talent and once again the Ludlow players were complimented for the quality of hockey they played and for their cheerful spirit throughout the game."

Tenbury Ladies are top of Worcestershire League Division One following a 2-1 win against Harborne Ladies 3rd.

Vicky Jones scored a great individual goal to put Tenbury ahead before Harborne equalised before half-time.

Tenbury had a number of penalty corners in the second half, with Cat Mumford's conversion being decisive.
