TENBURY United could face rivals Tenbury Town in the semi-finals of the Worcestershire Minor Cup after both won quarter-final ties at the weekend.

United thrashed Badsey Rangers Reserves 4-1, while Town put six past Cheltenham Football League Division Six side Malvern Vale.

“There is a good chance that that we will play Tenbury Town, so we will just have to wait until the draw is made,” said joint United manager Nick Stocker.

“It was a good game last Saturday, but to be honest, they weren’t very good.”

It was very doubtful that the game would go ahead because the referee had not turned up.

However, fortunately, a spectator, who was a junior official, was able to step in.

The delay did not affect United though and they opened the scoring through a fine individual effort from John Bradley in the 20th minute.

Tom Farr added a second10 minutes in the second half after linking up with Ian Patterson before Ryan Morris made it 3-0.

Ashley Giles fired home number four to seal the win before the away side, who play in Stratford Alliance Division Three, pulled a goal back.

United have won their last three matches to give them a lot of confidence going into this Saturday’s home game against high-fliers Westfields Reserves in Herefordshire Football League Premier Division.

“They got hammered 6-1 against Pegasus Reserves last Saturday," said Stocker.

"That was a bit of a shock result, but we know it will be a tough game,” said Stocker.

“Lee Millichip is a major doubt after coming off injured last Saturday, while Mike Foster is out until at least Christmas.

“But we have signed Daniel Gittens, who is an attacking midfielder, from Bewdley Town and Macaulay Stone, who is a 17-year-old centre-midfielder.

“He hasn’t played at all this season, but is a fantastic young lad.”

Meanwhile, Mark Boucker grabbed a hat-trick for Tenbury Town as they came from behind to beat Malvern Vale 6-1.

Chris Patton also got a brace, with the other goal coming from Tom Putt.

Patton said 16-year-old midfielder Kieran Worthington was the man-of-the-match.

“The opposition found it difficult to shake him off the ball and to stop him from winning the ball back,” said Patton.

“Alex Lombardi and Jack Farrar also played well.”

Town are back in cup action this Saturday when they travel to Fownhope to play their reserves in a quarter-final HFA Junior Cup tie.
