A FATHER and son from Ludlow Castle Motor Club both won trophies at Telford Auto Club's Moonbeam Rally.

Andy and Fred Andy Price's tussle lasted throughout the night, pushing the pair into award winning positions in their class.

But it was Andy who would come out on top, finishing 18th overall and second in class in his Suzuki Swift GTi.

He was assisted by Church Stretton-based co-driver Will Hough.

Fred was not far behind, coming in 52 seconds after his father to finish 19th and third in class.

Continuing the family theme, Ludlow's Chris and Keaton Williams wheeled out their Mitsubishi Colt at the event that was based entirely within Shropshire, covering the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones.

The pair dropped a couple of minutes on an early section, but it was a tricky junction near Totterton that caught them out, resulting in the loss of a further two minutes.

Trying to negotiate a tight hairpin lost them ever more time, so they decided to go for the finish and pick up some valuable championship points.

The Williams' eventually finished 22nd overall, with Keaton picking up the First Junior Navigator Award.

Eight seconds were behind were another father and son crew.

Will and Ash Maddox ran in the Novice Class, with Maddox's local knowledge enabling the duo to take the win by by just seconds in the multiple championship event.

Their effort also earned them a 23rd placed finish overall.

First time pairing Nick Skidmore and Jez Rogers came in five places behind in an Escort Mexico.

Skidmore, from Burwarton and Rogers, from Bridgnorth, were also caught out by the hidden junction that proved problematic for the Williams'.

But a better second half saw them climb to 35th overall and 10th semi-expert to claim them the First Junior DriverAward.

Seeded just in front of the battling Prices' were Fiona Moss and her father Andy, who were in a Peugeot 205.

But some tricky conditions caught them out, resulting in a non-finish.

However, Fiona did pick up the First Female Driver Award.

Ludlow Castle Motor Club's next meeting will start at Ludlow Brewery at 8pm on Wednesday, April 8.
