CLEOBURY Mortimer slumped to a sorry 65 all out in succumbing to a six-wicket defeat against Chaddesley Corbett in Division Three of the Worcestershire County League.

Only two Cleobury batsmen mustered double figures, opener Ed Kemp making 29 before being run out, and number nine batsman Greg Shorter chipping in with 10.

James Manley got amongst the Chaddesley batting with three for 29 but the visitors eased over the line on 66-4.

Runs were also in short supply as Corvedale made hard work of a four-wicket victory over Shropshire County League rivals Calverhall.

In a bowler-dominated Division Three encounter, Corvedale skittled out their opponents for just 55, but needed 28 overs and the loss of six batsmen to knock off the runs.

Corvedale’s Glyn Tipton (four for 33), Russell Wilcox (3-11) and Lea Burton (3-10) teamed up to destroy the Calverhall batting but only Burton (12) and Edward Motley (10 not out) managed to get out of single figures as Corvedale edged home.

Church Stretton were beaten by three wickets by Wellington 3rd in Division Two. Stretton were dismissed for 155, and Wellington scored the runs in 37 overs.

James Evans ran out of partners in finishing on 42 not out for Stretton, with opener Saif Khalid making a solid 26.

Wellington lost some cheap early wickets as Thomas Crump and Adam Groom produced lively opening spells, but Ian Murphy (six fours and a six in his 31) then came to the rescue.

Bishop’s Castle were also beaten at Willey.

They elected to bat but were dismissed for 131, despite a sound start from openers Andrew Lewis (14) and Richard Fifield (25).

Willey owed their 132 for six to an unbeaten 46 from Graham Ball.

Corvedale 2nd collapsed to defeat against Knockin and Kinnerley 4th.

Knockin posted a decent 187 for nine off 40 overs, with Corvedale using seven bowlers, Ian Alderson the pick with 2-30.

In reply they began well with Joel Leversedge (14), Ian Alderson (24) and Jim Alderson (42) all chipping in

But the final eight batsman only scraped 14 runs between them and Corvedale finished well short on 109.

Cleobury Mortimer 2nd were second best to Kempsey 2nd, despite decent contributions from skipper Jared Reid (57) and Jack Brookes (48) in their 183 all out.

Jake Phillips took a couple of wickets but Kempsey cruised home on 185-3 in 31 overs.

Matthew James led by example to see Knighton on Teme to an eight-wicket win over Dales in Division Two of the Marches League.

The Knighton skipper scored an unbeaten 51, his second-wicket stand with Callum Spires (34) breaking the back of the Knighton run chase

They only needed 110 to win after Evans and Kitchen had shared seven wickets in dismissing Dales for 109.

Evans took 4-21, hitting the stumps three times and taking a catch off his own bowling, and Kitchen 3-20.
