DEPLETED Knighton-on-Teme were forced to concede victory to Marches League Division Two rivals Glangrwyney last Saturday.
The villagers were unable to raise a team to travel into Wales and had to tell their opponents they would not be making the trip.
Club spokesman Dave Pullen said: “Work commitments meant we were left short of players and we didn’t think it was fair going all the way to Glangrwyney with only eight men.
“We did try and recruit some more players and Tenbury CC?kindly put out an appeal for some of their lads to help out but it just didn’t happen.”
Pullen added: “It is very disappointing and I can only recall it happening once before, a couple of seasons back.
"It was a one-off then and we are hoping it will be a one-off this time too.”
Knighton aren’t the only Division Two club with problems.
Llandrindod Wells, who Knighton beat with only ten men last month, have withdrawn from the league.
It means that Knighton lose one of their four wins this season and now find themselves seventh in the reduced nine-team table.
They hope to be back up to a full complement of players when they resume their programme at home to bottom-of-the-table Builth Wells this weekend.
