THE all-conquering Woodbees produced the sting in the tail at the Burgage Bowls League’s annual presentation evening at the new Stoke Bliss and Kyre Village Hall.

Their team, comprising of Robert Morris, Natasha Griffiths, Mike and Tessa Morris and Allan Westwood, swept the board by winning Division One, the Knockout Cup, the Men’s Singles and Pairs, the Mixed Pairs and they were joint winners with Avat in the Trebles.

Keith Croxton kindly agreed to present the trophies, with the Division Two trophy going to Michaelmicks and the Ladies Pairs to Tessa Morris and Barbara Davies. Su Edwards won the Ladies Singles.

The Bernard James Cup was won by a close-fought match between father and daughter, with daughter Natasha Griffiths winning by one point.

The members came out in force to support the evening, with an enjoyable dinner, cooked and served by Phil and his staff from The Clock House preceding the presentations.

A few of the league's resident comedian Allen Wait’s gags also entertained the crowd and to keep them entertained he also had a quiz going on to identify vintage tools which were passed around the tables. Would you have recognised a hat iron?
