A JAMES Pratt hat-trick helped Ludlow HC to a convincing 4-1 victory at home to Wolverhampton on Sunday, part of a hectic weekend that saw them play twice in the Warwick Printing West Midlands Premier Division.
On Saturday, they were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Wulfs, Jack Watts and Matt Blount on target after their hosts had twice taken the lead.
And there was frustration for Ludlow when, from a late penalty corner, the ball was blocked by a defender’s foot with the keeper beaten only for the referee to ignore calls for a penalty stroke.
Sunday’s match saw visitors Wolverhampton open the scoring with a penalty stroke after 20 minutes.
But Ludlow hit back and Pratt levelled following a well-worked penalty corner before he handed his side the lead with a quality reverse shot before half-time.
He completed his hat-trick 15 minutes after the break Sam Pratt scored with a penalty stroke to complete the scoring.
The 2nds lost 2-1 at home to Kings Heath Pickwick, skipper Tom Aston scoring Ludlow’s goal after just eight minutes – a splendid solo effort.
And goals from Cameron Hillhouse and Mark Sandell, the latter coming in the dying seconds, helped Ludlow 3rds see off Bloxwich 2-1.
A young Ludlow and Wenlock Ladies 1sts edged out Wem and Market Drayton 2nds 1-0, the game’s only goal coming from Anna Wilkinson in the first half.
