AFC Ludlow continued their late-season revival, their 3-2 victory at Wrens Nest making it back-to-back wins in Division One of the West Midlands League.

Kieron Dovey netted a goal in each half with Danny Gower also on target for Dave Cooper’s side who could still finish runners-up if rivals Hereford Lads Club fail to beat lowly Shenstone Pathfinders on Saturday.

Newcastle booked their place in the final of the Alf Sparey Cup after a 2-1 extra time victory at Presteigne Reserves.

The home side started the better and, after hitting the woodwork, opened the scoring with a 20-yard shot into the top corner.

But Newcastle forced their way back into the game and although injuries forced strikers Simon Oakley and Rhodri Jones off, they levelled before half-time through Carl Price.

The cup tie went into extra time and it was full-back Huw Williams who secured the win, scoring from the angle of the 18-yard box.

In Division One of the Herefordshire League, Woofferton were beaten 5-1 at Ewyas Harold Reserves while Tenbury Town lost 7-1 at home to Wellington Colts, Adam Everall with the consolation goal.

Both Woofferton and Tenbury were due to complete their league season on Tuesday with games against Hinton Reserves and Ewyas Harold Reserves respectively.
