CHURCH Stretton are up to second in Division Two of the Shropshire League following their four-wicket victory at Cae Glas.

And it was Saif Khalid who starred, picking up four wickets and then leading the run chase.

Stretton won the toss, opted to field and soon had the Oswestry side in all sorts of trouble with just three players making double figures.

One of those was opener and captain George Candler who carried his bat for 44 as those around him fell to some tight bowling.

Khalid finished with 4-12 from his eight overs while Keith Yapp proved a handful as he took 1-9 from 14 overs against the side he captained for many years. Gabriel Williams (2-28) and Peter Lee (1-21) took the other wickets as Cae Glas were left on 108-8 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Khalid (28) and Rob Whittall (23) gave Stretton the perfect start and runs further down the order ensured the visitors reached 109-7 in the 40th over.

Also in Division Two, Bishop's Castle won at Tibberton by three wickets thanks to a fine all-round display from Paul Cottrell who took 3-21 and then hit an innings best 31.

Tom Moulder and Jack Perry took two wickets apiece while Jonathan Price hit 22.

In Division Three, Corvedale lost out at Harpers by 45 runs as they failed to build on a decent opening.

The home side had been dismissed for 150 with Harry Aldridge (2-15 from nine overs) the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Adam Williams and Paul Mantle made a steady opening before Johnny Hill blasted 31 including three sixes to give Corvedale the best of starts.

But no-one else troubled the scorers and the visitors were dismissed for just 105.
