RAIN again played havoc with local cricket fixtures as the damp summer continued.

One game which did reach a conclusion was Bishop Castle’s trip to Welshpool in Shropshire County League Division Two.

The game ended in a winning draw for the home side.

Castle won the toss and elected to field first, restricting the hosts to 119-8 in 35 overs.

Paul Moulder with 3-20 was the pick of the visitor’s bowling attack while Richard Powell and Jack Perry also bagged a couple of wickets apiece. Top score for Welshpool was 25 from Russel Cadwaller with Paul Chapman making 21.

With bowlers on top, Bishop’s closed their innings on 74-4 with Richard Fifield unbeaten on 25, Tom Anderson taking all of the wickets for fall.

Chursh Stretton’s Diviusion Two fixture at home to Iscoyd & Fenns Bank fell foul of the weather also.

Some play to report at Trysull & Selsdon bowled out for 91 which was still enough for victory over Corvedale.

Glynn Tipton took four wickets and Ross Mantle three but they were outdone by Trysull’s Danielk Viles who grabbed 6-19 and but for James Bent’s 21 it could have been an even heavier defeat for the visitors.

In Reserve Division Three Bishop's Castle 2nd v Llanidloes 2nd was abandoned due to rain as was the Marches League Division Two game between Presteigne and Knighton-on-Teme.
